Unknown Creature

Muck Monster

(Aug. 23) - An unknown creature caught on video lurking beneath a lagoon in West Palm Beach, Fla., has the city wondering what it could be. The mysterious creature was videotaped by the LagoonKeepers.org, a group that patrols the city's waterways in search of debris. "I hollered out ... and said, 'What is that?' We followed it, started taking video," said Greg Reynolds, a member of the group. Don Serrano, who was with Reynolds, said the creature was "different, very different."
Reynolds said he and Serrano tried to catch up to it, but that every time they would get close to it, "it would just disappear." He named the creature "the elusive muck monster."
Thomas Reinert, a marine biologist who works for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, studied the video and said the creature appears to be moving in one direction and that it was not breaking the surface.
"Typically dolphins break the surface, sea turtles, manatee, a large school of fish. If it were a shark at that level, you would see a fin," the expert said. "I can't definitely say what it is," he added.

Montauk Monster

(May 14, 2009) - Will the Montauk Monster mystery finally be solved? The remains of a mysterious creature, said to have been photographed on New York's Long Island last weekend, have renewed speculation about monstrous creatures -- or monstrous tricksters -- lurking near Montauk.
Photos of a similar carcass allegedly found in the area became a global Internet sensation last year. Those remains were said to have disintegrated before they could be examined, but the newly found monster is on ice.
"The beast smelled like a mix of low-tide and rotten garbage," said a witness. "It really smelled horrific."

Mothman

For about 13 months beginning in November, 1966, a series of bizarre sightings took place around the area of Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Aside from a spate of UFO reports and claimed poltergeist activity, several witnesses came forward with descriptions of an astonishing creature that may have been the focal point of all the weird goings-on. As detailed in John Keel's classic book, The Mothman Prophecies, hundreds of witnesses allegedly saw a large, winged humanoid being.
Here is how they described it:
  • approximately seven feet tall
  • a wingspan over 10 feet wide
  • gray, scaly skin
  • large, red, glowing and hypnotic eyes
  • able to take off straight up in flight, traveling up to 100 miles an hour
  • liked to mutilate or eat large dogs
  • screeched or squealed like a rodent or electric motor
  • caused radio and television interference
  • had some mind control powers

The Jersey Devil

There is a terrifying creature, they say, that haunts the dense pine barrens of New Jersey, and its frightening appearance earned it the name of The Jersey Devil. The legend of the Jersey Devil dates back to about the mid-1700s when it was considered an omen of disaster or war, but multiple sightings did not begin until the early 1900s. Some researchers claim that more than 2,000 witnesses have reported seeing the creature over the centuries. Although rare, sightings continue up to the present day.
Descriptions vary, but these are the most commonly cited attributes:

  • about three-and-a-half feet high
  • a head like a collie dog and a face like a horse
  • a long neck
  • wings about two feet long
  • back legs like those of a crane
  • horse's hooves
  • walks on its back legs and holds up two short front legs with paws on them

It's interesting to note the similarities to Chupacabra!
Unexplained animal deaths and mutilations have been blamed on The Jersey Devil. Dozens of eyewitnesses claim to have been frightened out of their wits by it. What could this creature possibly be? The theories are similar to those cited for Chupacabra, but something scary definitely seems to be out there in the New Jersey woods.

Bigfoot / Sasquatch / Yeti

These hairy apemen are probably the most consistently witnessed unknown creatures in the world. Whether they are called Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, Skunk Ape or Yowie, they have been seen in isolated woodlands and mountain areas in virtually every corner of the globe. And the descriptions - from the North American northwest to Florida to Australia - are remarkably consistent:
  • taller than an average man (seven to eight feet)
  • covered with long brown or auburn hair (or white hair in the case of the Yeti)
  • a strong, repugnant odor
  • large feet, as evidenced by castings of footprints
  • an aversion to man
  • a piercing, eerie howl
The vast number of sightings, many by highly reliable witnesses, gives Bigfoot, in my estimation, the best likelihood of being a real creature as yet unknown to science. But what is it? A missing link? Some ancient relative of humans that somehow has survived in the wilderness? An unknown species of ape?

Strange Animal In Louisiana

According to NBC33 News channel , a hunter near Baton Rouge says he found this freaky photo on his deer stand camera. The hunting camera was broken but the memory card was still there and so was this bizarre image.
It looks like a cross between a human and an animal, with long slender appendages and glowing eyes.
The hunter says he just hopes it's a vegetarian, if he runs into it in the woods again

Unknown creature was found by soldiers

This creature was found by Russian soldiers on Sakhalin shoreline. Sakhalin area is situated near to Japan, it’s the most eastern part of Russia, almost 5000 miles to East from Moscow (Russia is huge). People don’t know who is it. According to the bones and teeth – it is not a fish. According to its skeleton – it’s not a crocodile or alligator. It has a skin with hair or fur. It has been said that it was taken by Russian special services for in-depth studies, and we are lucky that people who encountered it first made those photos before it was brought away.

Loch Ness Monster

A new creature has been spotted in Alaska by a footage of a fisherman, with about 20 to 30 feet long, many have said it is another marine-creature mystery of Alaska.
Compairing to a footage that was taken at 2009, but with the shaky camera and the rainy weather back then, the video seemed to be just confounding. The creature that was seen was labeled as “Cadborosaurus willsi” meaning to a “reptile” or a “lizard” from the Cadboro Bay in British Columbia where it was first spotted centuries ago.
Caddy” was a nickname given to the the said creature, as what MSNBC had reported, it appears with a “long neck, a horse-like head, large eyes, and back bump that stick out of the water”.

Chupacabra

Even though some sightings date back to the 1970s, El Chupacabra - "the goat sucker" - is primarily a phenomenon of the 1990s, and its fame has largely been spread by the Internet. The sightings started in earnest in 1995 with reports coming out of Puerto Rico of a strange creature that was killing farmers' livestock - chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits and, of course, goats - sometimes hundreds of animals in one evening. The farmers, who were familiar with the killing practices of wild dogs and other predators, claimed that the methods of this unknown beast were different. It didn't try to eat the animals it killed, for example; nor did it drag them away to be devoured elsewhere. Instead, the creature killed by draining its victims of blood, usually through small incisions.
Then came the bizarre eyewitness descriptions:
  • about the size of a chimpanzee
  • hops about like a kangaroo
  • large glowing red eyes
  • grayish skin and hairy arms
  • long snake-like tongue
  • sharp fangs
  • quills running along its spine that seem to open and close like a fan
  • some believe it may even have wings
Toward the end of the '90s, the sightings of Chupacabra began to spread. The creature was blamed for animal killings in Mexico, southern Texas and several South American countries. In May and June of 2000, a rash of incidents took place in Chile, according to certain newspapers there. In fact, some of the most incredible claims yet came out of those sightings: that at least one of the creatures was caught alive by local authorities, then handed over to official agencies of the US government.

The Dover Demon

Dover, Massachusetts was the location of the sighting of a bizarre creature for a few days beginning on April 21, 1977. Although the creature, which became known as "the Dover Demon," was only seen by a few people in this short period of time, it is considered one of the most mysterious creatures of modern times.
The first sighting was made by 17-year-old Bill Bartlett as he and three friends were driving north near the small New England town at around 10:30 at night. Through the darkness, Bartlett claimed to have seen an unusual creature creeping along a low stone wall on the side of the road - something he had never seen before and could not identify. The other boys did not see it, but it was obvious to them that Bartlett was shaken by the experience. When he arrived home, he told his father about his experience and sketched a drawing of the creature.
Just a few hours after Bartlett's sighting, at 12:30 a.m., John Baxter swore that he saw the same creature while walking home from his girlfriend's house. The 15-year-old boy saw it with its arms wrapped around the trunk of a tree, and his description of the thing matched Bartlett's exactly.
The final sighting was reported the next day by another 15-year-old, Abby Brabham, a friend of one of Bill Bartlett's friends, who said it appeared briefly in the car's headlights while she and her friend were driving. Again, the description was consistent. This is the creature they allegedly saw:
  • hairless body with rough-textured skin
  • long, spindly peach-colored limbs

Unknown Fish Found in China

A 55 feet (16,7 meters) long fish has been found in the seashore of Guangdong, China. According to a local newspaper, the big fish weighs at least 10,000 pounds.
Hwang, a 66-years-old fisherman living in the near area, said he has never seen anything like this in his whole life and that the fish was tied with ropes when it was first found.
Many people have flocked to see this strange specimen since its discovery, although its rotting corpse already emits a foul smell. The people living in the area think the fish was caught by some fisherman but was abandoned due to its heavy weight, hence the ropes.
Due to the serious decay of the fish’s body, it is almost impossible to identify the species, according to the local newspaper.
The fish was discovered on April 25th

Thunderbird

Thunderbird is a large flying creature that has its roots in Native American folklore. According to the Lakota people thunderbird was a physical manifestation of Wakan Tanka, a figure similar to the Judeo-Christian God. Today many people believe that this creature still exists and is actually a living relative of a prehistoric Pterosaur. The above photo was created for a paranormal television series, but it is a replica of a photo that many remember seeing but has since been lost to time. The photo first appeared in an Arizona newspaper when a group of men shot down a large serpentine creature with wings. Many researchers recall seeing the photo but all searches to find the original picture have proven to be frivolous.

Sea Serpent

This photo was first presented to an Australian magazine in 1965 by Robert Le Serrec, a professional photographer. Serrec said that it was a genuine photograph of a sea serpent. Printed with the photographs was a lengthy story about the family who took the picture of this strange creature. It is said that the family was vacationing near the Great Barrier Reef. The giant (reportedly 75-85 feet long) tadpole-like creature was reportedly resting on the bottom of the lagoon nursing an injury when the photo was taken.

Skunk Ape

An anonymous woman mailed these photographs to Sarasota Sheriff’s Department in Florida. Accompanying the photos was a letter saying that this strange ape-like creature had been in her backyard on several occasions stealing apples out of a basket on her porch. She was convinced that the animal was an escaped orangutan, but others believe that this is photographic evidence of a Bigfoot like creature that is native to the Florida wilderness known as the skunk ape.

De Loys Ape

François de Loys was searching for oil on the borders of Columbia and Venzualia. The expedition lost many lives to disease and skirmishes with natives. Of the twenty people on De Loys’ team only four returned. According to De Loys while camping his expedition team encountered what he at first thought to be two bears. Upon further observation his team discovered they were not bears, but two large primates, one male and one female. The two strange animals began howling at the group and flinging feces at them. Someone in De Loys’ camp shot and killed the female causing the male to flee back into the jungle. The above photo is a supposed picture of De Loys’ mysterious ape.

Kasai Rex

Kasai Rex is a supposed carnivorous dinosaur that some how survived the mass extinction event of the Crustaceous and lives undetected to this day in Africa. The story goes that a Swedish explorer was on an expedition in the Kasai Valley of the African Congo. The group was trying to sneak past a rhino without detection when a tyrannosaurus-like creature sprang from the underbrush and attacked the rhinoceros. There are actually two photographs that exist of the creature and both show very different depictions. The photos are less famous for being authentic and more famous for being hilariously fake. I felt like they should be included on this list because they are ‘famous’ monster photographs that were at one time passed off as real in some circles.

Champ

Similar to the Loch Ness Monster, Lake Champlain in North America has its own sea monster to contend with. Amateur photographer Sandra Mansi released this photo in 1977. The spot where the photo was taken is reported to be shallow waters (roughly about 14 feet deep) causing many to suggest that the photo is of a floating tree or is simply a hoax. The photo gained some clout though in 2003 when the Fauna Communications Research Institute recorded a sound that was similar to that of an Orca’s call, but had several differences that made it unidentifiable. This has led many to view this famous photo differently and instead of the neck of a plesiosaur-like lake monster, they are now seeing the fin of a large unknown whale-like creature living in the lake.

Creepy Gnome

In 2008, a creepy gnome was caught on film in Argentina. Jose Alvarez – who filmed the gnome – told newspaper, El Tribuno, that they caught the creature on film while larking about in their hometown of General Guemes, in the province of Salta, Argentina.
He said: “We were chatting about our last fishing trip. It was one in the morning. I began to film a bit with my mobile phone while the others were chatting and joking. Suddenly we heard something – a weird noise as if someone was throwing stones. We looked to one side and saw that the grass was moving. To begin with we thought it was a dog but when we saw this gnome-like figure begin to emerge we were really afraid.”
Other locals have since come forward to say they have spotted the gnome, and the town has been covered in a pall of fear ever since the first sighting.

Atmospheric Beasts

Atmospheric Beasts
Atmospheric beasts are reported to have semi-solid bodies and are often invisible. They can fly, but have no visible wings. Sometimes atmospheric beasts are reported as UFOs. Ivan T. Sanderson claims that most UFOs are actually atmospheric beasts. He theorizes that atmospheric beasts are animals that live in the clouds. Sometimes the atmospheric beast is reported to change shape, color, and texture. People who believe in atmospheric beasts think that the creature will die if they ever touch the ground. Some people even report them spitting streams of water at them. Others report that the beasts smell like mildew and feel like a giant soft tongue. They also seem to resemble animals of the sea, rather than land animals.

Shadow People

Shadow People
Shadow people are reported worldwide and since the beginning of recorded history. Shadow people seem to be living shadows. They are usually seen out of the corner of peoples eyes. Some people see semi-transparent dark splotches. They vanish as soon as a person realizes what they saw. When people see shadow people a feeling of despair and fear overcome them. There have been some reports of being attacked or chased by these shadows. The shadows are usually larger than a normal shadow and doesn’t resemble the person’s silhouette. I have personally came across a shadow like this and a dreadful feeling came over me for a brief moment. It was abnormally large and moved, when I did not.

Ebu Gogo

Ebu Gogo
These little guys were sighted in Flores, Indonesia, from ancient times to the 19th century. They’re described as hairy and short with big guts. They walk like humans. They are said to have mimicked the words people said to them. Australians and Indonesians found skeletons of a new species of human at an archaeological site. They were believed to live over ten thousand years ago. The skeletons were about a meter tall. These skeletons were thought to possibly be the ebu gogo of Indonesian folklore. The ebu gogo have been used by Indonesians as a scare tactic to get their children to behave. The term “ebu gogo” means grandmother who eats anything. Legend has it that the ebu gogo and the people lived in peace… for a while. The ebu gogo started killing crops and the humans’ animals. They fled to caves when the humans started killing them. These caves were eventually set on fire after the ebu gogo stole a baby. Some were said to have fled to the Liang Bua caves, which is the cave where the archaeologists found the small skeletons.

Orang Minyak

Orang Minyak Malaysia
In the 1960’s a large number of young women were raped in several Malaysian towns. The attacker was described as a naked man, covered from head to toe with oil. Some said that Orang Minyak could appear invisible to non-virgins. Mass panic ensued, and many young women of the region began wearing sweaty, stinky clothes so the Orang Minyak would mistake them for male and leave them be.
Some speculate that the Orang Minyak was, in fact, a regular human criminal, who covered himself with oil to camouflage himself against the night, and to make him especially slippery to catch.
Sightings of the “Oily Man” have continued through the decades, with the last sighting in 2005.

Jinn

Jinn
The jinn are real entities living on this earth which are normally invisible to us. The name comes from an Arabic word meaning "to hide or conceal". They don't live in bottles or adhere to the fairy tales told about them. They can be deceptive and influential. They are behind the UFO mystery as well as many other mysteries. Every culture shows their influence in its mythologies and religions.
The Jinn have free will. Some are spiritually good while others are profoundly evil.

Toyol in a bottle

Toyol
A curious fisherman in Malaysia had found the bottle on Tuesday on the shores of a coastal village, believing that what he saw in it was a toyol. In Malaysian folklore, a toyol is a goblin-like creature that steals money and commits other mischief or evil at the instruction of its guardian. Not wanting to have anything to do with it,the unidentified fisherman from Kampung Kuala Pahang rushed to nearby Kampung Siong, about a kilometre away, and passed it to a Malay witch doctor.
The Malay witch doctor, in turn, handed it to the state museum. Word of its discovery spread like wildfire and hundreds of people waited at the doorstep of the museum before it opened at 8am, eager for a chance to see the strange item. Museum director Mohd Farid Abdul Jalal said it looked like a puppet or marionette and was about 20cm tall. The figurine, kept in a wide-mouthed bottle, is cloaked in black and hasred eyes and mouth. “The bottle also contains some sand, a yellow string and slices of onions,” he said. “We believe it was used in some kind of spiritual rite or medication and thrown by someone into the sea several days before the waves washed it ashore.” He said the object would be displayed in the museum until he discusses with his officers on the next course of action.
